Review of La Botticella restaurant in Rome - italian family

In the alleys of my beloved Roman district of Trastevere, a small family restaurant La Botticella was lost, which I found on the advice of a friend and a great connoisseur of Italian cuisine and Trastevere Asi Katashinsky, I quote literally:

“This restaurant is kept by a nice Italian family. He is more expensive than average. Very tasty steaks, ravioli with mushrooms and everything. If something stays in the plate they don’t understand! ”

Recommended:

  • Excursion dive in Trastevere
  • Where to eat tasty and cheap in Rome

This kind of old Italian woman is already hard to find on the streets of Rome, but on the narrow streets of Trastevere many people dry clothes this way to this day.

  • Official site: www.ristorantelabotticella.com
  • Address: Vicolo del Leopardo, 39a, Trastevere
  • Working hours: from about 19:00 daily
  • Phone: +39 065814738, reservation is required

Menu

The restaurant specializes in Roman cuisine. First courses in the range of 10-12 euros for pasta, meat to 20 euros, which is quite acceptable for the capital.

Many people ask - where do they cook fish well in Rome? Indeed, we do not have many good fish restaurants, but here, for example, we have Sea bass on the grill. An important find for me is the cozze about which below.

Dishes

We started, of course, with antipasti: cheese, sliced meat, a bit of olives and pickled tomatoes.

Everyone knows that Caprese salad, in fact, is tomatoes and mozzarella. Here in Botticella they understand the recipe literally - cut the tomatoes in half, put 2 balls of mozzarella and the salad is ready. I actually love this approach - less perversions with the pitch and as naturally as possible.

Lamb meat is very tender, I recommend it.

A huge portion of ravioli, barely eaten.

And finally, my favorite mussels are cozze. I just lost hope of finding where they are being prepared in Rome. I even resigned myself to the idea that for a full portion of mussels at an adequate price (I am satisfied with up to 15 euros per bowl) you have to fly to Sicily in La Piazzetta or go to the Osteria Santo Spirito restaurant for a day in Florence. But here you get a full huge portion in the heart of Rome for only 13 euros - a dream come true!

Finally, a bonus for a glass of limoncello is a tradition. We did not have enough strength to try more dishes, because on the same day, about 4 hours before the meal, we had lunch (overeaten) in the best restaurant of Tivoli. Will definitely return here more than once.

Score

The bill for dinner for 4 people amounted to 139 euros (including 2 bottles of wine), which by Roman standards is slightly higher than average, but quite acceptable - in more pathos and less tasty places you will give much more. I recommend to visit.
